Working for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is a blast, especially this time of year! Our national program, Movers for Moms®, is in full swing and together with their communities, our franchises across the country come together to spread the news, collect donations, and plan events to raise awareness of the program and give back to local mothers in need.
Movers for Moms® is TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®’s national program designed to celebrate women who are forced to rely on the support of local homeless or domestic abuse shelters around Mother’s Day. Franchises partner with local shelters, schools, businesses, and community organizations where members of the community drop off items such as beauty products, hygiene products, blankets, gently used clothing, and much more.
Each year, we see franchises team up with new collection partners and plan fun events to make the program a great success. One of the most rewarding pieces of franchising with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is the opportunity to get involved and give back to the community through cause marketing programs and community volunteering.
Bryan Gerstner is a franchisee at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Kansas City, Mo., and has taken his Movers for Moms® program to a new level this year.
“For me, it’s giving back to the community for a very good cause that is not widely talked about, but affects so many people,” he said.
This spring, Bryan, along with his team, has gone above and beyond to make Movers for Moms® successful. Their franchise partnered with two television stations, ABC TV9 and NBC TV41, to help spread the word.
“ABC TV 9 embraced the program and really went over the top with promotions. For that we are so grateful,” said Bryan.
Bryan’s franchise also partnered with Race 4 Domestic Violence Prevention, an annual 5k run in their community, and partnered with the Nebraska Furniture Mart as a collection site for folks to drop off donations.
For Bryan, the most rewarding part of Movers for Moms® is the satisfaction he feels when they drop off the collected items at their local shelter. It is a rewarding experience to positively impact womens’ lives.
In addition to the fantastic efforts TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Kansas City has shown during this year’s Movers for Moms® campaign, numerous other franchises across the country have fully embraced their Movers for Moms® program this year and are doing great things!
Movers for Military
Movers for Military is one of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®‘s fall programs which gathers and delivers donations to homeless Veteran’s shelters and families in need around Veteran’s Day.
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Tampa took Movers for Military on full force last fall. After a lot of contemplating, Marketing and Sales Manager Eugenia Parlow decided to host a golf outing to raise money for Movers for Military.
“I made the suggestion to our owner, Jeff Knowles, and he thought it would be a good idea and the rest is history,” said Eugenia. “After we had a flyer designed, we got talking to our vendors, chambers, and community partners. They all had a big part in the program’s success.”
When Eugenia began working for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, she was thrilled to find we help those in need through programs like Movers for Military and Movers for Moms®.
“Giving back is something I’ve always been passionate about. Movers for Military is especially exciting because our franchise owner, Larry Knowles, my husband, and many of our friends are veterans.”
Last fall, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Tampa raised more than $5,000 at their golf outing and used the cash donations to buy additional products that were on their charity’s wish list.
In July, they will start planning the 2nd Annual Movers for Military Tournament which will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015.
2014 Humanitarian Award Winner
At our company-wide annual meeting each spring, we hold an awards night and recognize our franchises across the system for their achievements.
This year, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Des Plaines/Chicago was the recipient of the 2014 Humanitarian Award. Franchisees Joel Trost, Jason Judson, John Judson and the rest of their team were extremely deserving.
The Humanitarian Award is given to the franchise who has donated the most move hours and moving supplies to local nonprofit organizations throughout the year. In 2014 TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Des Plaines/Chicago collectively donated a total of $32,950 in charitable moves and supplies!
