It was just like any other Tuesday for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Tampa, Fla., Franchise Manager Randi Bloodworth. Little did she know the surprise of a lifetime was waiting for her.
Founder Mary Ellen Sheets and a small team from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® International traveled to the Florida franchise on Sept. 29, 2015 to personally announce Bloodworth as the very first winner of Mary Ellen’s Moving People Forward® scholarship program: she was presented with a $50,000 check to cover the franchise fee of her new location.
“I’ll be honest, I was shocked. The other candidates in the program are amazing at what they do, I didn’t believe I actually won,” Bloodworth said after being celebrated as the first recipient. “The next thought was, ‘Oh man I have a lot to do!’”
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® International launched the Mary Ellen’s Moving People Forward® scholarship program during the spring of 2014. The inaugural program began with seven managers from across the system, each undergoing extensive training to further enhance their knowledge of the inner workings of the franchising system, and to help lay the foundation for them in becoming a successful franchisee.
As the winner of the program, Bloodworth was awarded $50,000 that will go toward opening her own franchise. By March 2016, she will be expanding the brand into Pearland, Texas. As outlined in the program’s agreements, Bloodworth will have ownership of the location with multi-unit Franchisee Larry Knowles, multi-unit Franchisee Ryan Knowles, and multi-unit Franchisee Jeff Knowles.
“Randi started as a CSR just a few short years ago,” said Jeff. “It didn’t take long to see that she had a ton of potential. Lucky for us, the Mary Ellen’s Moving People Forward® scholarship was introduced. The program is the true essence of moving people forward. It’s been such a pleasure watching Randi grow from a CSR to a sales manager to an office manager, and now to a franchisee of a brand new territory. I’m so excited to see where she goes from here. I have absolutely no doubt the tools provided within the scholarship program will guide Randi down a path of success the system will be proud of.”
Randi is excited for this next step and the future of her Pearland location.
“If you had asked me three years ago where I saw myself, my response would certainly not have been a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchisee,” Bloodworth shared. “Now looking forward I am beside myself with excitement on what my future with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® looks like. The feeling is still indescribable.”
To say the first-ever Mary Ellen’s Moving People Forward® scholarship program was a success would be an understatement. Two of the seven managers who were initially a part of the program are now current franchisees, and the remaining participants were awarded $10,000 that will go toward opening their own franchise, as all of the managers plan to open their own TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® location.
Congratulations to each one of the participants who completed the very first Mary Ellen’s Moving People Forward scholarship program. Thank you for your dedication to this brand and for working to move TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® forward:
