Stephan Eveland uses consistency and care to earn TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Move Hero Award

-Written by Erik Sargent

The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® system is full of team members who truly embody our Core Values, and who strive each and every day to be the best they can be while making an impact in their communities.

Some people continuously go above and beyond this daily lifestyle, and we have started to recognize these people in the system as TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Move Heroes – a prestigious award given out annually to deserving candidates for truly making a difference in the lives of their customers, fellow team members, and even those within their communities.

This year at the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Annual Meeting in Colorado Springs, two system members – Patrick Worthy and Stephan Eveland – were both honored as Move Heroes.

Eveland is a mover at the Fort Myers/Naples, Fla., location, and has demonstrated what it means to be a Move Hero since he joined the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® team. Eveland is completely deaf, but has never let that slow him down from not only doing his job to the highest level, but communicating with his customers and making them feel comfortable during moves.

“Stephan is a role model. He sets the standard of what every TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® team member should be,” said Fort Myers/Naples General Manager Bryan Fitch. “Even with myself, Stephan caring so much keeps me on top of my game as a general manager. I need to know team members like him are happy and can be proud of the company they work for.”

Eveland is continually applauded for his relentless work ethic, a trait that motivates every other member of the Fort Myers/Naples team when they arrive to work. Eveland is personally requested for moves by members of their community, and he treats every move with the same level of consistency and care.

He was surprised to learn he had been nominated for the Move Hero award, and felt a wide range of emotions upon finding out he had won the award.

“I felt grateful, proud, and shocked. I never knew that when I started my career at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® it would turn into something that I was so dedicated to or proud of,” Eveland said. “Seeing the people I care about so much say such amazing things about me was really emotional for me. I was nervous about the video, but I couldn’t help but feel so proud and inspired.”

The attention to detail shown with each and every move Eveland completes creates a culture of success for the franchise and their team members, and it really motivates Eveland’s peers to work as hard as he does each day.

“Seeing Stephan winning the Move Hero award was so motivating for the other team members,” Fitch said. “It really pushes the veterans to strive for more when it comes to customer service. Stephan will always be an inspiration to our team, and we are all so proud of him. We have had other locations reach out to us asking questions because they have deaf applicants, and they want to know how to proceed with training and development. He has really moved the deaf community forward.”

It’s these kinds of outstanding qualities that come into consideration when looking for Move Heroes, and Eveland checks off every box. His outstanding ability to communicate with others despite being deaf and the care he puts into his work made it an easy choice.

For Eveland, he’s proud of what he has been able to accomplish as a member of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, and he works to give it his all, each and every day.

“I just do my best to put care into everything that I do so I know my coworkers, managers, and customers feel important,” Eveland said. “Giving support to my team and great customer service is always my number one priority. I think the foundation we have built is important to my future success at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®. I am surrounded by people that want me to succeed, and that support helps me be a successful part of this company.”
