New Year, new opportunity to create business goals

-Written by Erik Sargent

Welcome to 2018! With the New Year, it’s the perfect time to begin thinking about personal and professional resolutions to better yourself this next year.

For the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® brand, our goal as always is continuing to provide the highest level of customer service and satisfaction as we help people with all types of moving needs. We have shown continued system growth now for more than eight years, and as always, this can be traced back to our 96 percent system-wide customer referral rating.

Overall, we look forward to continuing this trend of moving people forward and looking for new, innovative, and effective ways to get people settled into their new homes or businesses with ease. Across our system of more than 350 locations across the U.S., our franchisees also create their own business goals for the New Year and work hard with their teams to achieve these goals.

We spoke to several franchisees to find out what they are focused on heading into the New Year in another edition of our “TWO MEN AND A TRUCK New Year’s Resolutions”!

Holly StewartHolly Stewart – Smyrna, Georgia

Motivation for the New Year?

“I’m totally pumped about 2018. We came out of the busy season this year and immediately started making some adjustments to help us overcome challenges we faced in 2017. We have the two million mark in front of us for 2018, and it will be really exciting for the team if we can break that mark and jump to the next level. My staff works really hard year-round, so to give them that milestone would be really rewarding. So that is my motivation – making sure I give the business everything I can to make it and our employees successful.”

What areas are you want to improve on as a franchisee?

“I want to make sure I stay engaged, but make sure I’m doing my job working on the business vs. working in the business. I need to be there to guide them to success, but don’t want to stress them out micromanaging them. That can be a hard balance to hit sometimes, especially when coming from working my way up through the company.”

Top goals for your location in 2018?

“Revenue growth while increasing and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction are the top two goals. Everything else sort of falls in line if we’re reaching these.”

Curtis NewmanCurtis Newman –Albuquerque, New Mexico; San Antonio, Texas

What is your main focus heading into 2018?

“Our biggest motivation is to provide an even higher level of customer service than we have in previous years. Although we are the premier moving company in San Antonio, we want to blow our competition out of the water with superior customer service.”

What improvements would you like to make as a franchisee?

“I am looking to improve by finding better and additional benefits that we might be able to offer our employees.”

How do you plan to reach your 2018 goals?

“We plan to achieve our goals by empowering our management staff to take on more daily responsibilities and have a larger impact on the overall performance of the franchise.”

Brian-SternBrian Stern –Portland, Maine; Boston, Massachusetts; Livingston, New Jersey

What business goals are you working on heading into the New Year?

“In 2018, I plan on continuing to invest and develop in our teams. Building our bench and holding everyone accountable is important at all levels of our business.”

How do you stay motivated as a business owner?

“My motivation comes from the people I work with each and every day. We continuously strive to be better than the day before.”

What is your plan to put your team in the best position to succeed in 2018?

“Training and development. The more resources we give our employees, the higher probability we have to succeed as a franchise. With the gained knowledge, our team will ideally be running more efficiently at all levels of the business while delivering a high-quality product.”

Joel TrostJoel Trost , Chicago, Illinois; Portland, Maine; Boston, Massachusetts; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Livingston, New Jersey

What’s your motivation heading into 2018?

“We are motivated to take care of our movers and drivers in 2018. We want to go that extra mile. We believe that the trickle down of great franchise moral effects every part of our business in a positive way.”

What goals do you have for the New Year?

“Safety will be on the top of our mind all year. Our goal this year is to be profitable as we grow and deliver excellent customer service. This is probably everyone’s goal!”

How will you set your locations up to achieve these goals?

“We have been holding meetings for days to motivate employees. We have covered new bonus plans and discussed strengths and weaknesses of each manager. We will only reach our goals if we work together, and this is our big message for 2018.”
