From the day TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Founder Mary Ellen Sheets started the company, she made it clear that above everything else we offered as a brand, outstanding customer service and hardworking people would be what set us apart.

More than 30 years later, those ideals have remained constant, and have helped the brand surge forward into its latest milestone achievement – 7 million system moves.

It is a testament to the people who have worked at all levels of this system for all 7 million moves, from our hard working movers and drivers up through management, and onto our franchisees at each franchise location.

FF retro“It is another feather in our cap to prove that we are here and growing to be one of the best moving companies in the industry,” said Jeff Walker, a franchisee at the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Colorado Springs, Colo., location that opened in 1993. “I’m very proud of all our coworkers that work so hard to make it happen each and every day.”

Franchisees like Walker who have been here the longest have seen many of the ups and downs of this journey, but know the best is yet to come.

“With each incredible milestone like this one, we continue to gain valuable experience that can be turned into even better service for our customers,” said Tim Lightner, a multi-unit franchisee in Wisconsin. “[We can use this] to provide more learning experiences for our team, and also to help us continue to be better positioned in our communities as the best movers around. Imagine how strong we’ll be when we hit eight million moves!”

When Sheets started the company with her two sons, Jon and Brig, in the early 1980s, it originally started as a way for the two to make some extra cash as high school students. As they went on to college, people kept calling Sheets asking for moving services, and she knew the idea could resonate in the community.

K-zoo St 1Year by year, more franchises opened and the brand began to establish itself as a leader in the moving industry. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK now operates in 43 states across the United States and also in Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Customers keep coming back, and it’s the high level of customer service excellence that continues to sell us to the public.

“For our customers, the stress of moving ranks right up there with death and divorce,” said Brig Sorber, CEO of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and one of the founding family members. “We have this moving thing down to a science. It’s nice to bring relief to our customers and to get them moving on with their lives.”

Although there’s always time to stop and appreciate the success we’ve experienced at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, one thing that has always set us apart – and what has helped us reach this point – is continuing to look forward and find more ways to better operate and serve customers. Our franchisees are always ready for the next challenge and excited to see what the future holds.

Jon94“There are so many great things happening within the system,” Lightner said. “I think the thing I am most excited about is the increased support, training, and recognition our frontline staff is receiving and the personal growth that comes from that. The frontline staffs are the ones who create the most customer contact, the strongest impressions, and help make our brand even stronger. The better work environment we can create for those team members, the better all of our businesses become.”

This idea of continuous recognition, support, and career growth for our frontline staff is echoed by all franchisees in the system, and with it, they feel there is no ceiling to where we can go as a company.

“I want to be the Kleenex of the moving industry – when people think about moving, I want our name to be the first thing they think about,” said Eric St. Pierre, the franchisee at our Colorado Springs, Colo. location. “I also want us to be the leader in quality and innovation in this field. Moving and customer service do not normally go together, and I look forward to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK changing that. I also look forward to us continuing to provide so many people with a rewarding and lucrative career.”
