With the calendar hitting March, that means another year of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Annual Meeting as the company held its 29th edition of the conference last week at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Making a return trip to Colorado Springs after hosting the event there in 2017, attendees were welcomed into the snowy Rocky Mountains for four days of discussing the direction of the company, new goals for the system, and learning about new developments that will be unfolding in the upcoming years.
“It felt so good to be back at the Broadmoor Hotel, a setting with amazing history and world-class service,” said Randy Shacka, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK President. “We had over 170 people with us who were not here two years ago.
Franchisees, system managers, and Home Office employees gathered, and the first day of Annual Meeting kicked off with a prayer breakfast that was followed by a general session that had speeches from founding family members Brig Sorber and Melanie Bergeron followed by a state of the system address from executives Randy Shacka, Jon Nobis, and Brant Hartle.
“There has been a change in brand focus,” said Jon Nobis, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK CEO. “As a brand, we were focused on growth. Now, we are focused on a balanced approach that includes customer service, profitability, and the employee experience while still focusing on growth.”
The first day of the event also gave people a chance to sit in two keynote speaker presentations, one from Eric Chester, and the other from David Avrin. The day concluded with a Cheeriodicals team building event, where executive team members and attendees were gathered to build “boxes of cheer” that would be delivered to the UC Health Memorial Children’s Hospital and the PFC Floyd K Lindstrom Outpatient Clinic.
Day Two of the event was focused on educational sessions covering a wide-range of topics through the company, with a vendor marketplace being held to close out the day. It was an opportunity for people to ask questions, learn, and to develop new ideas for their own franchise locations.
“This is my second Annual Meeting, and it’s always just a ton of fun getting to meet new people and getting to know franchisees,” said Michael Franzese, assistant manager for the Waukesha, Wisc., location. “Just picking at people’s brains is good. More specifically at Annual Meeting now, I’m able to pick up more ideas for my own franchise and I start to think of more ideas, and just branch off from there.”
Along with the learning that was taking place, guests were also given a good chance for networking and meeting other individuals within the company to see how they operate at their respective locations.
“[Annual Meeting] has been very informative,” said Shawn Abram, operations manager for the Pittsburg Southwest and Northeast locations. “I’ve met a lot of good people here, there’s a lot of people being very supportive of each other and growing the business, growing the brand. It’s been a good experience.”
The final day of Annual Meeting featured a few more education sessions before an Awards Night closed out the week.
People from all over the company were recognized for a variety of achievements, including service awards, sales leaders, newsmaker awards, revenue awards, humanitarian awards, customer service awards, operational excellence, and the Moving People Forward and National Move Hero awards.
It was a great time for everyone to reflect on all of the positives that happened throughout the year, and a good start to the new year as the brand continues its growth.
“It’s been amazing here,” said Dusan Martinovic, one of the National Move Hero Award finalists. “I’ve never been to anything like this before in my entire life. It’s always just been me being on the road or I’m doing something, so the fact that I get a chance to experience all of this is just lovely, honestly. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
