TWO MEN AND A TRUCK expands into Reno, Nevada with franchisee who’s no stranger to franchising

The goal at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK always has been and always will be to offer our industry-leading moving services to as many customers as possible, and a big part of this starts with expanding our number of franchise locations.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK brand recently moved into another important city – Reno, Nevada.

New Franchisee Russ Riggs moved to Reno four years ago with his wife, and immediately fell in love with the area. He already had experience in the world of franchising, but noticed one key business was lacking in Reno – high-quality, professional moving services. After working through the process of owning his own TWO MEN ANDA TRUCK location, he just recently opened the brand’s first location in Reno.

Russ-Riggs“In the beginning, it was an attractive idea because there was not a location here, there was financial upside, and there was longevity within the business,” Riggs said. “However, after visiting with Home Office and learning the processes, the system, and meeting the support teams – I was hooked. I feel there is a need in Reno for a moving company that is focused on quality like TWO MEN AND A TRUCK.”

Although Riggs is now one of the newest TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchisees, this type of business model isn’t new to him. As mentioned earlier, Riggs and his wife already have experienced success in the world of franchising, making this latest business venture a seamless transition.

“Franchising works for my wife and I,” Riggs said. “Our skills and experience are on the business growth and operations side of things and not as much on the product or service innovation side. However, with the support of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, I don’t think there will be much of a difference making this transition.”

When starting a new franchise, there are always going to be different hurdles and challenges that a new franchisee must face. Riggs pointed to recruiting and training as they work to get started as two of the bigger challenges they are focused on, and just working to get the right people on their team.

Another big goal – maybe the biggest goal – is just getting word out to the Reno community that TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is in town.

“We want to be able to offer the highest-quality moving services in this area, and there are a lot of levers to pull,” Riggs said. “Our biggest goal is to introduce the people of Reno to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and show we aren’t like other moving companies, and keep reminding them of that.”

Riggs and his team have already began introducing themselves and making relationships with realtors in the area trying to spread the word, and they are on an endless recruiting push to get quality movers and drivers in the door.

It’s the start of another chapter in the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK story, and for Riggs – who already comes from a franchising background – he would recommend this to anyone interested because of the culture, the people, the future of the business, and the assistance you get when starting up.

As for their plans and goals for year one of operation, Riggs is keeping it simple and to the point.

“We want to be known as the highest-quality movers in Northern Nevada,” Riggs said. “That is at the top of our mind, and we want people to feel comfortable referring their friends and neighbors.”
