For the 30th year in a row, the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK family gathered for our Annual Meeting conference, this time traveling out into the desert of Las Vegas, Nev., at the Red Rock Casino and Resort.
Back in Las Vegas for the first time since 2014, franchisees, managers, and Home Office employees met to discuss the current state of the company, new goals for the year ahead, and exciting new plans for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK as we continue to grow and expand nationwide. The three-day event was full of educational sessions, executive boardrooms, training seminars, and opportunities to have a little fun in the Las Vegas atmosphere.
“Welcome to the 2020 TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Annual Meeting at the beautiful Red Rock Casino. It’s great to be back here in Las Vegas,” said Randy Shacka, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK president. “The last time we were here was back in 2014 at the M-Resort. Although a lot has changed over the past six years regarding topics and the challenges ahead of us, what has remained constant is the consistency of our brand’s growth as we stand up here celebrating another record year.”
Annual Meeting started off on Sunday morning with an inspirational prayer breakfast, which was followed by a morning-long general session where guests heard from the executive team, learned about new happenings within the brand, and heard two keynote presentations – one from U.S. Economic Research team member, Joseph Song, and the other from Taylor Meadows of Indeed. The day was closed out with a Cheeriodicals team building event and the Las Vegas City Highlights Tour to give attendees a taste of the Las Vegas lifestyle.
Day two of the event was centered around education and training sessions throughout the morning and afternoon where attendees learned about upcoming moves for the company and how to expand and grow their locations. They could also ask questions to the executive team and Home Office subject matter experts.
“Annual Meeting is always great,” said Blake Casey, the franchise manager for the Grand Rapids South, Mich., location. “This year is special, just being in Las Vegas, it’s a huge venue, there’s a great turnout, and there’s great sessions. There were some great keynote speakers, we got to learn about the new employee experience. It’s always fun, it’s fun to gather with other franchises who kind of have the same struggles but also go through the same wins, so it’s fun to hear and see both sides.”
The event provides a chance for people at the franchise locations to learn more and get up to speed, and that’s something they’re all able to take back to their franchises as they get ready for the upcoming busy moving season.
“It’s always a good time at Annual Meeting,” said Garrett Newhouse, the general manager for the Wayne North, Mich., location. “I love seeing people that I don’t normally get to see and talk with and learn some of the faces of people you hear about. It’s also the first time I’ve been to Las Vegas, so it’s a good experience and it’s going great.”
The final day of Annual Meeting featured some more education sessions in the morning, including a “lunch and learn” event for our new junk removal services, where attendees were able to ask questions to franchises who have piloted the program and see some of the junk truck options available.
Tuesday finished off with our Awards Night, where the company took the time to recognize the outstanding achievements from the franchise level in 2019. Multi-unit Franchisee Rob Felcher was awarded this year’s “Moving People Forward” award, and Driver and Regional Trainer D’Angello Thompson of our Garland, Texas, location was named the “National Move Hero” winner.
“It’s been really exciting to be here at Annual Meeting,” said Kara Berhow, marketing and recruiting director and customer service manager at the Des Moines, Iowa, location. “Typically, we learn the most from each other, so that’s what I’m always excited about. I’m thrilled about all of the new stuff happening with the company and learning more about it.”
