Multi-unit franchisee spent a decade at the frontline level before becoming business owner

Across so many TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchises, you’ll find franchise owners who got their start in frontline positions, working on the trucks as movers and drivers, or even in the office as customer service representatives.

There’s no better way to learn the ins and out of a moving franchise than by doing the moving yourself, and that’s exactly what you get with individuals like multi-unit Franchisee Nick Roerig. For Roerig, he started as a mover at the Columbus, Ohio, franchise nearly 18 years ago, where he learned everything about the frontline operations of a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchise.

This experience paid off nearly two decades later, as he not only became a franchisee, but a franchisee for multiple TWO MEN AND A TRUCK locations across the states of Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas.

“I started out as a mover at the Columbus franchise, then later on, I moved out West and became an operations manager for the Tucson, Ariz., franchise,” Roerig said. “After that, I became the general manager at the Mesa, Ariz., location. So all in all, I had about a decade of working at the frontline level before I became a franchisee.”

His decade in the system before becoming a franchisee was full of different experiences and travel, but it got him prepared for the jump to business ownership – and he was ready when the opportunity presented itself.

“When it was finally time to take that big step, it was an easy decision,” Roerig said. “I was totally bought into TWO MEN AND A TRUCK. I had met so many smart and generous people at every level. The business model was sound and growing so fast, and it seemed like opportunity was everywhere. From my time as a general manager, I knew this could be a profitable business if it was run correctly.”

He would recommend this path to anyone – no matter their experience in the moving industry – because of the people involved with the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK brand, which in his words, is what separates it from other franchising opportunities.

“The goal for us is always growth,” Roerig said. “We want to grow the business, grow people’s careers, and grow the positive impact we can have on the people around us. That’s what’s great about this company – it is a place where you can grow all of these things with like-minded people.”
