Business ownership is something that is a big dream for many people, but the hurdles, unknowns, and startup costs of chasing this dream can often shy them away.
One alternative to starting your own business venture is joining a franchising brand like TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, where you still get all of the benefits of business ownership, but in a model that has been established for years and built for success. Even in franchising, a traditional model might not be a great fit for everyone and this is where our mini-markets come in.
Our mini-market model was established in 2017 and was built with the idea of allowing new franchisees to enter territories with smaller populations, providing them the flexibility to work with less staff and trucks in areas where there is still a demand for professional moving services.
“Mini-markets run very similar to our tradition markets, but at a smaller scale. We now have the technology and support mechanisms in place to help create a profitable business in a market that requires a smaller local support staff,” said Jon Nobis, CEO of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK. “The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK brand has grown significantly throughout the United States, giving customers a recognizable yet local name to do business with no matter where they move.”
Even though mini-markets are smaller than our traditional franchises, they still receive the same dedicated support from our Home Office teams.
Mini-market requirements for opening include:
-A minimum of $80,000 in liquid assets and a $160,000 in net worth. Initial investment ranges are anywhere from $100,000 to $192,000.
-Mini-markets are required to operate with one moving truck at the date of their opening, which is less than the 2-3 truck minimum required of a traditional franchise.
-Mini-markets require a $30,000 franchise fee that covers populations ranging from 100,000 to 225,000 people.
-Mini-markets are now able to offer our new, junk removal services to customers to help add to their revenue options.
The very first TWO MEN AND A TRUCK mini-market franchises opened in the state of Montana in 2017 in Missoula and Kalispell, and we’ve since opened three more in Cheyenne, Wyo., Santa Fe, N.M., Grand Junction, Co., Manketo, Min., and McAllen, Texas. There are still several open mini market territories across the country.
“I would and have recommended franchising with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK,” said Ben Heslop, franchisee of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Kalispell, Mont., location. “At first the royalties look like a lot, but when you see what you are getting back, that number proves to be worth every single penny.”
